The purpose of this research is to develop a plan for applying the theology of the cross
to offer help with the many challenges faced by current preachers (chapter 1). The scope of the research includes: the liturgical cycle of the church year, the lectionary, the theology of the cross, and the relevance of lectionary preaching in Lent (chapters 2 to 5). As a result, a new model of preaching the Scriptures is suggested (chapter 6). This model is built on the inner relationship of the lectionary readings as they expound the meaning of Lent and the
mystery of the Passover. From this exposition, man’s plight and God’s Gospel are discovered, with the theology of the cross offering help.
There are three important findings from this research. First, the liturgical cycle of the church year and the lectionary are closely interconnected and have inseparable significance.
They jointly interpret the embodiment of Jesus' paschal shape. Second, this new mode of preaching on the lectionary has two unique advantages. It provides preachers with interactive two-way thinking and contextualized actualization, and it is applicable to the preaching of Scriptures in every season of the church year. Finally, the theology of cross is the essence of the preaching for the topics of every church year season. This is because it examines the relationship between the Scriptures and the method of the cross, it expounds
the Passover faith, and it confirms the gospel of God. This study, therefore, offers practical, usable solutions for the many challenges faced by preachers.
